Callaghan in the House of Commons last week that he was inquiring into the need for an increase in driving and traffic examination staff to enable more time to be spent on enforcement.
Sixty-two traffic examiners were engaged whole-time on enforcement, and 472 driving and traffic examiners were available for enforcement duties when they were not testing drivers.
