MR. CHARLES L. SLADDEN, 0.B.E., M.I.Mech.E., M.Inst.T., M.I.ProdE., is retiring under the age limit on August 14, after completing 39 years with the Metropolitan Asylums Board and the London County Council He was engineer superintendent with the M.A.B. for 15 years, until the work of this body was absorbed by the L.C.C. under the Local Government Act, 1929, when he was placed in charge of the mechanical equipment repairs branch, responsible for the acquisition, maintenance, disposal and sometimes design of the Council's fleet of vehicles.
