Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Next month the British Technology Group will display a 16-tonne Freighter, two buses and a Ford Sierra car fitted with Perbury Continuously Variable Transmission, The CVT system uses a combination of rollers and convex discs to provide a stepless automatic drive system. It had been under development by Leyland Trucks, and the engineers responsible for the project voluntarily transferred to BTG subsidiary Torotrak when BTG bought the rights, patents, and testbed vehicles (except for a CVT-equipped Leyland TX450).

Torotrak managing director Chris Greenwood says that CVT will probably be fitted to passenger cars first, but adds: "Some of the parties we are talking to are very interested in commercial vehicles as well."
