Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

fire resist ance and drivers' survival chances. On a recent hitchhiking trip I had a lift from Steve Clark, a Norfolk Line driver from Great Yarmouth. We didn't have long to chat and hopefully he will be sending me a report on his experience and views on cab safety, but I learnt that he had recently narrowly escaped a cab fire which destroyed his unit in a very short time. The Government has been persuaded to compel manufacturers of household furniture to make them fireresistant. Is the truck purchaser's influence so strong that it can ignore drivers' concern about their own safety?

T McCaffey,

Whitchurch, Bucks.
