• A staff buyout of Northern Scottish Omnibuses, the biggest bus operation in north-east Scotland, would win full Government backing plus cash, according to Scottish Home Affairs Minister Lord James Douglas-Hamilton. The level of assistance under declared policy to one team per company will be up to 75% of the cost involved in mounting the bid. Northern's managing director, James Westby, says: "I very much welcome this move and hope it will help to ensure a successful buyout."
