Three of the company's drivers, Stephen Chapman, George Nicholls and Barry Stephenson, were all given absolute discharges after admitting that they drove vehicles at Immingham on 19 July 1988 when not holders of HGV licences. Prosecuting for the North Eastern Traffic Area, Stephen Baggott said the charges had arisen out of the use of dump trucks operated by Stoneledge on a public road, in connection with a contract the company held with Humberside Sea & Land Services. The vehicles concerned were classed as HGVs and their drivers required HGV driving licences.
