Barr Barr head haulage company has had its operator's licence suspended by Scottish Licensing Authority Hugh McNamara after failing to appear at disciplinary proceedings in Glasgow. Ian Millar, of the DTp's vehicle inspectorate, said William McGhee (Haulage) had held a licence since 1976.
One vehicle was currently specified and in the last five years three, immediate prohibitions, two of which were endorsed "neglect", had been imposed.
The company's inspection records showed the vehicle had been inspected at the stated intervals by a commercial garage. However, lie vehicle was found to have a severe brake fluid leak.
Millar said that in May the vehicle had been given an immediate prohibition during its annual test, for a badly corroded brake pipe. Both prohibitions indicating neglect had been issued shortly after the vehicle had been inspected by the commercial garage.
Suspending the licence, McNamara said he could only conclude that, despite the paperwork, there was no adequate system of maintenance in force.
