• According to a survey of employment prospects issued this week by Manpower Ltd, one of Britain's largest private employment agencies, 37.2 per cent of the country's employers will be increasing their labour force in the next three months. This compares with 24.1 per cent during the same period last year. Three regions show increases well above the national average. In the South West it is 61.3 per cent, in east central Scotland 48.6 per cent and in the South of England 40.5 per cent.
The survey is based on information received from 2951 companies in 29 industry groupings and covers over 1 million people in all categories. It forecasts that some degree of labour "hoarding" will take place.
