R. and" S. Two-wheeled Vehicle Specially Suitable for Transporting Machinery or Cattle

AN accompanying illustration shows a low-loading heavy-duty twowheeled trailer made by R. and S. Trailers, Ltd., 4, Rosemount Road, London, N.W.3. Rated as a 2-tonner, it has a platform level of only 1 ft. 6 ins., so that machinery, cattle, tractors, or other loads which constitute a loading problem, can be more easily dealt with.

Of all-steel construction, the chassis incorporates a 2i-in. square drop-forged axle, equipped with roller-bearing hubs, carrying 12-in, brake drums and pressed-steel wheels shod with Dunlop 32 by 6 tyres. There is a reversing lock on the drawbar.

The body measures 11 ft. 8 ins, long and 6 ft. wide, whilst the sides are 2 ins, deep and can be equipped with extension crutches. Jacks are provided at each corner for steadying purposes. These are of the quick-release type. Two loading ramps are included.

The trailer weighs 19 cwt. and costs, complete, 290. We understand that it has been approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and by a number of tractor manufacturers and concessionnaires.

In the accompanying picture the trailer is seen with a Fordson pneumatic-tyred tractor forming the load. The weight of this machine was just over 1 ton 13 cwt.
