The National Automobile Chamber of Commerce of America has formed a committee to consider the question of standard specifications fer motorbuses. During recent months a number of States has brought out regulations which require different types of construction in buses' in service in each State. For instance, Massachusetts proposes to shorten the length of buses; North Carolina and Florida require 6 ins, less in width than other States; whilst Connecticut demands special destination-sign lights.
It is realized that regulations for public protection and serviee must he laid down, but, at the same time, it is thought that it is important to reach some suitable basis if low-cost transportation is to be attained. Attempts will be made by the N.A.C.C. Committee to confer with public officials, the American Electric Railways Association, the Bus Division of the American Automobile Association, the Society of Automotive Engineers and other interested groups with a view to framing uniform and reasonable specifications.
