Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AN interesting type of van has recently been put into service by a wholesale butcher of Crewe and, as the illustrations which we publish on this page indicate, the body has been designed so that the vehicle can be used for two distinct purposes. lathe main it is constructed so that large quantities of meat can be delivered to local retailers. The body design conforms with the official regulations laid down for meter vehicles engaged on the transportation of meat. For instance, it is essential that the bodies of such vehicles must be entirely closed in and all ventilator.' fitted with a fine-mesh gauze. The body which we illustrate has been designed and constructed by J. H. Jennings and Sons, Ltd., of Sandbach, and it is fitted on a 20-25-cwt. Bean chassis. The sides of the body are made to slide, each of them consisting of two separate doors which run in grooves lined with sheet steel provided in the side members of-the body, both at the top and at the bottom.

e In order that the side sections shall slide easily, specially hardened rollers of -4. in. diameter are fixed at intervals along the bottom runner. The manner in which the sliding doors at the sides are constructed can be seen from the

detail drawing which we reproduce. Three recesses are arranged in the bottom side members to enable the grooves to be kept clear of any foreign matter that may find its way into them. The side doors are provided with recesses so that they can be easily moved backwards and forwards; they are lined with sheet metal.

Apart from dealing with meat in bulk, the van can be used for carrying livestock, such as pigs, sheep, calves, etc., from the market. When it is engaged upon this class of work, the rear side doors are pushed to the front and two latticed sides are fitted in the positions which they normally occupy. These latticed sections are fitted with binges and strong steel fasteners.

The inside dimensions of the body are: 8 ft. 3 ins. long, 6 ft. wide and 5 ft. high. A door is provided at the rear which is 2 ft. 2 ins, wide and 4 ft. deep. This'type of azaPs body can, of course, be adapted to suit any class of chassis.
