TURNERS (Soham) has acquired hazardous logistics specialist Lewis Tankers, as part of a strategy to expand its ADR operations.
Hensall, East Yorkshire-based Lewis Tankers already has a well-established presence in the chemicals, aviation and energy industries, which will complement Suffolk-based Turners' fuel distribution operations.
Turners general manager Cohn Rutherford will head up the operation, working alongside Lewis Tankers MD Stewart MacDonald, who will remain with the business.
Paul Day, MD at Turners, said: "Our aim is to build on the existing strong customer relationships and to continue the growth achieved in recent years by the existing Lewis management."
MacDonald added that Turners will bring financial strength as well as a strong team to Lewis Tankers' operations.
"I am looking forward to working with the Turners management team," he said.
Last year, Turners acquired Walker Transport Services and Browns Chilled Distribution.
