Dealer's used truck of the week. Each week our man inside the used truck trade picks out a truck or trailer from CM's online classified list. This week, it's a Scania R440 Highline
THIS WEEK Laurie Dealer has been looking at a 2011 Scania R440 Highline. It's a Euro-5 rear lift tractor unit that comes complete with a service history covering the 298,000kms it has driven. The 13-litre 440hp engine does not require the use of AdBlue.
Plated to operate at 44 tonnes, this unit has been specified with a manual gearbox and hydraulic wet kit system to allow it to be used with a moving floor trailer.
Before re-sale, it was covered with a full livery wrap — leaving an unblemished factory white cab beneath — and for those who have spotted the distinctive red bumper, you'll know this truck's origins. The vendor is Cheshire-based Smith Brothers Services, which is sole agent for Eddie Stob art, big fans of the Highline cab.
Scania's strong residual values play a large part in Stobart Group's bulk purchase of these units, but the R-Series also enjoys a good reputation for reliability and is universally liked by even the hardest-to-please drivers.
