• Transport con
sultant Paul Carless has been warned of the dangers of standing in temporarily as the nominated transport manager of a South Wales skip hire firm.
An application for a two-vehicle licence by Berrow Enterprises, trading as GB Skip & Plant Hire of Barry, had been adjourned a fortnight previously after South Wales Traffic Commissioner John lervyn Pugh had ruled that Darren Laventure, the son of company secretary Mary Laventure, was unacceptable as the company's nominated transport manager.
Mrs Laventure denied she had had a licence in the name of TAL Computer Services revoked at a public inquiry in June 1992, claiming she had surrendered it. She agreed that a licence application was refused in November 1992 and November 1995.
Carless said he had hoped to have a transport manager but had been let down. Adjourning the proceedings, Mervyn Pugh warned Carless that if he became transport manager and subsequently lost his repute, he would be prohibited from attending traffic courts.
