• The Transport Users Group, which represents owner-drivers, has refused membership to North Rise Services, the clearing house set up by former Transworld and Eezee Euro executives (CM 22-28 Aug).

North Rise is run by Roy Vernon — a former director of Eezee Euro Services which took over Transworld depots after its collapse — and former Transworld executive Glynn Lunn. Transworld went under in May.

North Rise has told TUG that hauliers will be paid for work on time, but the association is advising that operators seek either a guarantee of payment or a deposit.
