• The Peter Lane Group could be recruiting owner-drivers and small hauliers by the end of the year for its European distribution service.
Eurolane, which runs a daily service to Paris in conjunction with French freight forwarder Logfret, says economic factors will determine the final number of subcontractors.
Mike Earle, Eurolane's general manager, hopes to increase the number of runs from an average of four to about 20 a week by the end of the year.
