THE Road Haulage Association has been forced to accept the Transport and General's unofficial stamp system, designed to rid the industry of "cowboy" operators, (CM, August 29).
But the Association insists it is not facing a fait accompli and at this stage, is still firmly opposed to the use of the identity stamps.
It appears there were initial PIRELLI GENERAL has taken over Meachers Transport Ltd of Southampton for an undisclosed sum. problems when the cards were issued in Hull, though the system is now understood to be working without hitches.
