THE FREQUENTLY maligned repair side of the British motor industry may console itself with the thought that its 20-year-old representative, John Bailey, was the only British engineering employee to win a medal in this year's International Youth Skills Olympics at Atlanta, USA.
A motor mechanic employed by Caffyns' Hastings branch, he was sponsored by the RTITB. Hi success in tests lasting 22 hours won him a silver medal. John was the third successive motor mechanic from Britain to gain this award in the annual competition. The trade needs many more like him.
