Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

types and a number have to be parked in the open. We want to find some form of heating which could be used for the purpose of easy starting of engines during the winter. Is it possible for you to give us some help in finding a suitable means of doing this?

AOne method of heating is the electric element which is fitted into the vehicle cooling system and plugged into a mains socket at night. This is a common method of

ensuring easy engine starting and it has been used for many years on fire appliances and public service vehicles.

There is another method which can be used if your vehicles are to be parked near to a source of steam heating. A ring main can be fitted around the parking area and a series of take-off points situated at intervals around the main. Vehicles are parked facing the pipeline, i.e., outwards around the parking area and a short flexible pipe coupled to one of the radiator outlets (drain-cock for instance), the filler cap removed and a general trickle of steam allowed to pass through the coolant all through the night. Once installed this system is extremely cheap to operate and very efficient.
