DECISION has now been given by t Northern Licensing Authority, J. A. T. Hanlon, in the case of Siddle Cook, Ltd., Consett, who were called show cause why two B licences coveni seven vehicles should not be revoked suspended (The Commercial Mot August 29).

He has ruled that there shall be revocations, but the conditions must changed. On the three-vehicle licenc under which goods for the Consett Co., Ltd., could originally be carried 1', miles, this radius is now dropped to miles.

On the other licence, the radius for ti iron company's goods remains at miles, but other traffic may be card( only 25 miles. Meat and Christmas mai are deleted from these conditions.

Cook's. application for two big vehicl to replace four smaller ones is refuse and it is stipulated that none of the foi vehicles in question shall have tilt weight increased without publication the proposal.

Mr. Hanlon said he would be failing his duty if he allowed the• company continue carrying steel, although he h•a good deal of sympathy with them. Tin had had to meet a tremendous amount competition in previous years, ar because all these other vehicles we available they had not been able to pr duce need for extra facilities.

Taking the broadest view it seem( mistakes had been made, and there 112 been carelessness in giving instruction He wished to be as lenient as possible at would be reluctant to order a revocatio although he regretted the " undesirab methods" Cook's had used to secu extra carrying capacity.
