Developments in Salvage and Garage Service Equipment Are Continuing to Feature Among the Activities of the Harvey Frost Works DESPITE present-day conditions, Harvey Frost and Co., Ltd., Bishop's Stortford, is continuing to devote some ittention to the development and improvement of its range Jf garage equipment. Probably most notable progress has been made with the company's salvage appliances for a variety of requirements.
Outstanding examples are two new towing ambulances having deadweight capacities of 30 cwt. and 50 cwt. respectively, and, therefore, suitable for dealing with vehicles having corresponding unladen weights of 3 tons and 5 tons. These useful appliances now have larger wheels mounted on Timken tapered-roller bearings, whilst, in the case of the smaller unit, adaptability has been enhanced by the provision that has now been made for angular adjustment of the towing bar. On both models the crutches are adjustable both laterally and vertically, and can be swung around on their vertical supports.
Improvements have also been effected to H.F. towing
bars and to the distance bars which are used for additional security when a vehicle is being towed on an ambulance. Both these items of equipment are now obtainable, as lorry models, but with trolleybus clamps as an alternative to the standard attachments.
Apart from salvage apparatus, the company's Robot tyre changer has been modified to widen its scope, and it now probably ranks as one of the most popular and effective. time and, labour savers in the field of garage equipment. There are other new H.F, special-purpose tools and. appliances that might be mentioned, but the above will suffice to show that developments are by no means being ignored, even if progress, in this sphere, has inevitably been retarded,
