An efficient haulage operation demands an efficient workshop, and you can't run an efficient CV Workshop without keeping abreast of the latest techniques, equipment and legislation. Which is why our Workshop Conference & Exhibition is so popular. This year's event is scheduled for 11-12 October.

• Amid the glamour of the major shows with their eye-catching rows of pristine vehicles, it is all too easy to overlook the stands specialising in the equipment and know-how that keeps those wagons roiling. Much of the trade press reflects this bias — but not Commercial Motor.

Our monthly Workshop supplement aims to keep workshop personnel informed of all the latest developments in the maintenance and repair sector — and the annual Workshop Conference & Exhibition goes one step further. Now in its third year, the event will be held at the Telford Exhibition Centre, Telford, Shropshire on Wednesday and Thursday 11-12 October and, as the name implies, it falls into two areas of interest.

EXHIBITION

This is the only show where many of the leading names in the maintenance and repair sector are gathered together for your convenience — and where you won't have to tramp past all those irrelevant stands to get at them.

We guarantee this is the best value-formoney exhibition you'll ever attend, because admission is free. Simply turn up at the exhibition centre, which will be open from 10:00-18:00hrs on the Wednesday, and from 10:00-17:00 on the Thursday. You'll find a full preview of the show in this month's Workshop supplement (free with this issue of CM), but just to give you an idea of the scope of the show, exhibits will include anti-lock braking syslems (Bendix), shot blasters (Spencer & Halstead), work clothing (Business Dress Design), mobile vehicle lifts (Somers Handling and Hereford Profiles), fuel heaters (Hefac Engineering), repair manuals (Glass's Guides), and much, much more.

Demonstrations are a popular feature of the Workshop exhibition; this year Bendix and Hope Technical Developments will get the ball rolling on the Wednesday morning when Bendix shows off its ABS faultdiagnosis systems and Hope displays 'Scrutineer', which helps ensure that trailer brakes are correctly matched to the tractor system. In the afternoon, Lasalign's laser-aided hi-tech chassis alignment checking equipment will take the stage. On the Thursday morning conference sponsor Michelin will demonstrate various aspecs of tyre management.

CONFERENCE

If the exhibition is a prime source of equipment and technique information, the conference is the event to bring you up to date with the latest technical developments that can improve your efficiency.

As with the show, you'll find a comprehensive preview in Workshop. Subjects covered will include:

O The new COSHH regulations 0 Used oil analysis

LI Goods vehicle testing 111 Safety in the workshop LI Muncipal vs private efficiency

O Exhaust extraction methods O Specialist training techniques O Achieving BS5750.

To attend the conference you'll have to pre-book your place, and time is running short. However if you phone our conference hotline today (Thursday 5 October) or tomorrow we'll be happy to accomodate you.

It costs 2155 for one day or £255 for both days; accommodation can also be arranged for £54. Reserve your place now by ringing conference organiser Cathy Clark on 01-661 3307; she will also be happy to answer any questions you hay4 regarding the event.

Either part of the Workshop Conferer & Exhibition would be well worth a visi for anyone involved with maintaining or repairing commercial vehicles. Put the two together and you've got a unique opportunity to boost your efficiency — and your profits.
