• Bristol and West Motor Auctions has bought Rotherham-based M1 Motor Auctions from motor dealer D C Cook. John Bailey, managing director of Bristol and West, is planning a substantial investment in facilities and intends to boost sales volumes by 60% to 500 vehicles per week — a mixture of cars and commercials.
"We have been looking for a way to give more effective support to our growing number of clients in the north of England," he says. "Ml Motor Auctions, with its prime position just off the M1 at junction 33, will enable us to do this."
Bailey says many of the companies Bristol & West deal with have fleets all over the country and, though its Bristolbased operation serves London, the South-West and part of the Midlands, it was not cost-effective for customers beyond those points to bring their vehicles to auction.
"Now we have the facility to collect vehicles in the NorthWest and North-East — and we will be expanding our transporter fleet to handle the extra volumes," says Bailey.
