• The organisers of the Automotive Trade Show scored a big success with their September exhibition in its new venue, the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham. The tradeonly show attracted 250 stands and record 20,964 AC Delco, the Vauxhall Motors brand name for replacement parts for most makes of vehicle, showed both its range for cars and carderived vans, and for trucks Freedom batteries, oil, air and fuel filters, fuel pumps, fan belts, wiper blades and multigrade oils.

Autop Turbo 130 Bainbridge Silencers was among firms exhibiting for the first time at the Automotive Trade Show. A cut-away model of its Truckmaster silencer for commercial vehicles was on display. A leaflet designed to answer some of the questions asked about emission controls and the role of the catalytic converter is available.

Bainbridge Silencers, bought from Tube Investments by the American group Arvin Industries, has new corporate colours combining its traditional blue and white with the red of Langley was particularly pleased that the new venue attracted coach parties arranged by exhibitors. Happich Auto Trim makes all types of sun visor for trucks, coaches and cars, and until last month was known as Morgan Soft Trim. It has been acquired

as a joint venture between the UK's C H Industrials and West Germany's Gebr Happich.

The company still comes under the management of the CHI Group, which has recently acquired the truck and body division of Sheller-Globe in the United States.

Happich Turbo 135 An inflatable vehicle bodypanel repair kit from Harboran is aimed at the professional panel repairer. The Derrair system, designed and patented in Northern Ireland, consists of a series of reinforced canvas bags inserted behind a damaged body panel. On inflation, the damaged area is restored to its original shape.

Harboran Turbo 135 Hunger (UK) showed five machines for the brake service workshop never previously exhibited in Britain — three developed during the past year.

The B 355 lathe for turning brake drums, discs and flywheels on vehicles from heavy trucks to cars has been introduced for workshops with insufficient work to justify buying a heavier and more expensive lathe such as the B 325.
