UTD operates through seven distribution centres (at Grangemouth, Glasgow, Wakefield, Manchester, • Leicester, Wolverhampton and Hoddesdon) and runs distribution services for clients as diverse as Boots, Alcan and Quaker Oats. While most of its warehouses handle die expected range of consumertype goods, Grangemouth handles industrial storage and the distribution of petrochemicals and oils.
The company is also pushing its associated services — just as important as mainstream distribution — such as stock control and rotation, break-bulk operations, shrink wrapping, heat sealing, bagging and mechanical handling.
United Contract Hire will be selling its services across a spectrum from advice on transportation through to complete transportation packages using a variety of leasing arrangements.
