The list, held on a computer system called Landbank, carries details of over 700 sites beside British Rail tracks and highlights those which offer access to the rail system.
Other details include the size and exact location of the site, what planning permission exists for them, whether they are in enterprise zones, and what road and motorway access exists.
At a seminar to launch the service List week, Railfreight director Colin Driver insisted that the land is available to anyone, regardless or whether they want to use rail for any of their haulage.
But they can expect Railfreight to sell its services to them.
Commenting on its philosophy cowards road and rail freight, Railfreight distribution manager Stan Judd said: -We are not saying that we are automatically superior to road — equally neither are lorries always better than a rail wagon. The old road versus rail argument is dead."
