'ME MILK Marketing Board is using polyethylene tanks to cope with peak traffic.

PD Technical Mouldings, of Thornton Heath, Surrey, developed the Polytank, series of tank modules providing capacities of 2,350 litres to 23,500 litres, for the MMB to use on hired-in flatbed vehicles during peak milk yield times.

The system, including cage, softwood side supports and inclined double deck for drainage, can be supplied at about one third of the cost of a stainless steel container.

Each 2,350 litre container costs i:57 and weighs 250kg.
