Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THREE associated Lancashire hauliers' plans to move into a site they have used as a trailer park for 17 years have run into strong opposition from two local authorities and a large number of local residents. The public inquiry into their plans, at Preston, has been adjourned until next week.

The three companies, D and A Transport (24 vehicles and trailers), F. Burns Transport (14 vehicles and trailers), and J. T. Greenwoods Transport (Longton) (15 vehicles and trailers), want to move into a station yard at Midge Hall, Leyland.

Lancashire County Council, South Ribble Borough Council and local residents are opposed to the move.

Ambrose Rayton, their transport manager, said they had been urged to move from their existing base at Beeches Yard, Chapel Lane, Longton, because of objections.

The present premises, an old railway yard, had been used for industrial purposes for many years and the group had used it for parking trailers since it first rented it 17 years ago.

At one time it kept 100 vehicles there.

It purchased the site two years ago and the front of the site is used by two other operators, Wrights Transport (15 vehicles and trailers) and McGarry's (three vehicles and trailers).
