Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

wondering what the law is on direction indicators. It has armtype on the front sides and illuminated arrows at the rear. As 1 am restoring this vehicle to its original condition I feel it would spoil it to fit modern flashing indicators, but is it within the law as it stands?

The vehicle weighs more than 3 tons, and it will only be used at weekends for exhibiting at shows, etc. Will it need a rear marker board and do I need to obtain an hgv licence before! may drive it?

AYour lorry must be fitted with direction

indicators but the semaphore-arm type is allowable. We do not consider illuminated arrows at the rear comply with the law, but if the arms fitted at the front can be seen at a reasonable distance from the rear, no rear indicators are needed anyway, so you could remove them.

You will need an hgv driver's licence. There is an exemption for drivers of vehicles first registered before January 1 1940 but your lorry is newer than this.

Unfortunately we can find no exception which allows you to use the vehicle without rear marker boards and it is true these will be out-of-keeping with the general appearance of the vehicle.
