C. Batshi as road freight manager (operating), in succession to Mr. R. L. Streight, who retired on September 29 after 45 years in transport. Mr. Botshi joined the Nirthern Ireland Road Transport Board in 1935. On the establishment of the Ulster Transport Authority, he was appointed assistant freight manager. Mr. Edward Deakin, who has been general manager of the Chesterfield transport undertaking since 1949, has been appointed general manager of Bradford Corporation transport department. He will take up his appointment in the New Year and succeeds Mr. John C. Wake, who moves as manager to Nottingham.

At the annual general meeting of the Federation of British Rubber and Allied Manufacturers the re-election for 1962-63 of Mr. C. H. M. Baker, of Firestone Tyre and Rubber Co., Ltd., was confirmed. Mr. D. E. Cameron, of Bostik, Ltd., and Mr. D. D. Marshall, of Cireengate irwell Rubber Co., Ltd., were elected vicepresidents.

Chairman of the council of the Institute of The Motor Industry, Mr. W. T. Charles, is leaving on October 8 on a visit to the South African Region of the Institute. Lord Williams has relinquished his appointment as a part-time member of London Transport Executive, on the expiry of his term of office. Lord Williams, who is 70, had been a part. time member since the Executive was formed in 1948; he was particularly concerned with supplies and contracts.

Two engineers of Albion Motors, Ltd.. Mr. W. Paton and Mr. R. Steele are making a two-month tour of Nigeria. Ghana and Sierra Leone, visiting Leyland Grotip agents and assisting in solving any technical problems which may have arisen in their territories.

Mr, D. G. Badham has been appointed deputy chairman of Powell Du ffryn Engineering Co., Ltd., relinquishing the position of managing director which he has held for many years. Mr. J.
