Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TP British makers are to see their commercial-IL vehicle products become really popular in countries other than our own, it is of vital importance that they pay the greatest attention to the question of giving really adequate service to those who purchase their vehicles. One of the chief reasons for the popularity overseas of the American and other foreign-built chassis, even in the markets where British goods, as such, would be preferred, Is that their makers have organized their service schemes so thoroughly that the vehicles in use are but seldom held up for want of spares.

We do not suggest that British makers as a Whole neglect the service side of the business, but there certainly have been instances of unnecessary delay in the provision of even comparatively minor parts. We know of one case where a vehicle of fairly modern make was held up for nine weeks while the repairers awaited the receipt of a crown wheel from the makers, and this in England, not abroad !

These incidents are, probably, exceptional cases, but there are many others where weeks of delay are sometimes caused, and this to the owners of commercial vehicles may be the cause of severe losses. So far as overseas sales are concerned, it is imperative that conveniently situated depots for spare parts should be provided.
