• Among the millennium products announced on Monday were two with applications in the road transport industry. The Design Council initiative is intended to promote innovative British products and services.
Schrader-Bridgeport's remote tyre pressure monitoring system transmits data from wheelmounted pressure sensors to an in-cab display. The retro-fit ver
sion will be available early next year; the truck version is likely to cost about £300 for a typical 14-wheel application.
The second product, the fuel catalyst from Powermakers Plus, is fitted to the fuel line of petrol and diesel engines, and is claimed to improve combustion and hence emissions and economy by a catalytic process involving tin and other metals.
