Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• I was amused to read the letter from an exasperated Tony Monnickendam (Commercial Motor, 28 October), managing director of Trusthouse Forte, on his company's policy towards HGV drivers. He is clearly getting annoyed with all the media coverage given to the ban on parking heavy goods vehicles on South Mimrns Service Area.

He wants us to lay this one to rest, once and for all'. Well, Mr Monnickendam, I can assure you that the truckers of this country, and I am sure I speak for all of them, are not going to lay this one to rest, as you put it.

If it is not the fault of Trusthouse Forte that this situation has arisen, then who is responsible? If you are so keen to welcome truck drivers to South Mimms, then why aren't you doing something constructive about it, instead of passing the buck and whimpering that it isn't your fault?

I have started a campaign amongst drivers to pull on to the coach park and take their break. I did this last week and refused to move my truck when asked to by the security guard. It's about time that drivers started demanding their rights to be treated equally alongside the car and coach fraternity, I am sorry, Mr Monnickendam, but you haven't heard the last of it — we are not going to go away and forget about it. We will not be fobbed off by your lame excuses.

Incidentally, is there a reason that South Mirnms no longer stocks trucking magazines? Perhaps it is just another way to say we are not welcome.
