Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

the organisation which earlier this year introduced a comprehensive guide to truck specifications and which supplies Commercial Motor with the data for our specification tables, has produced a booklet which allows direct comparisons between the specifications of European diesel engines. Diesel engines for Europe's commercial and passenger vehicles, 40 600kW includes technical data on the products of 25 manufacturers alphabetically from Caterpillar to Volkswagen. As with the Truckspec vehicle guide, the publisher's guiding principle has been to allow the reader to make direct comparisons between engines, so, for example the usual confusion resulting from manufacturers' use of various standards for power and torque ratings has been cut through by quoting all engine performance to both the EEC 80/1269 and ISO 1585 standards.

Truckspec intends to update the guide annually. It costs including postage and is available from Truckspec Ltd, 172 Foresters Drive, Wallington. Surrey SM6 9LA_
