• Freight Rover has won a major 22-million export order to supply 185 Sherpa vans and minibuses to the Hong Kong government. The order has been awarded to FR's Hong Kong distributor, MD Motors (a subsidiary of the Inchcape Group) and consists of twenty 200-Series Sherpas and 165 Sherpa 300 models.
The vehicles will be used primarily by the Hong Kong Police, Fire and Post Office. The Hong Kong government presently runs a fleet of more than 6,000 vehicles of all types, and the Freight Rover order is the first in the colony for the Birmingham-based van builder.
Production on the order will begin this month with FR shipping vehicles before the end of the year.
