Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ROAD HAULAGE costs rose by more than seven and a half per cent during the first nine months of this year, according to the Road Haulage Association.

And it has warned that there will be further substantial rises in the next three months. The survey on which this latest figure is based did not take into account any wage awards that came into force during the nine-month period.

The rate of increase appears to be slowing down, says the RHA, but this trend will be short-lived. Continuing price rises will add a substantial amount to the figure for the last quarter.

At last week's RHA annual conference there was some comment about the way the costings were compiled.

It was revealed that only 20 firms were returning the cost data question sheets which provide the Association with the information for its haulage cost increase figure.

Some 65 firms had been asked to fill in the sheets.
