Dipping System for Iodine Lamps RECENTLY developed by Speedwell Iodine Conversions is a device which permits quartz iodine headlamps to be dipped. Until now this has not been possible—iodine lamps have been confined to use as added spotlamps only.

This conversion unit can be quickly fitted to all vehicles currently fitted with Lucas 700 lens units with separate bulbs. For sealed beam systems a replacement Lucas F700 lens unit is added. With this device dazzle has been prevented by a method of top beam cut-off for the dipped light. The mounting plate (the main backbone of the unit) is pressed out of steel sheet. The bulb holder and retainer are both machined to 0-005 in. from aluminium for heat dissipation and lightness.

The Speedwell conversion units are supplied complete with Philips QIV bulbs, cable, connections and fitting instructions. Made by: Speedwell Iodine Conversions Ltd., Ingatestone, Essex.
