GLASGOW CORPORATION has offered its 5,000 municipal bus workers an increase of 4s. per week good timekeeping bonus, bringing this up to £1, and overtime of time and a half on work after 1 p.m. on Saturdays as against the present payment of time and a quarter.
This offer was made at a meeting on Wednesday of the parties involved and will he commended to members of the passenger section of the TGWU. The union had asked for an increase in the good timekeeping bonus to 30s. and double time ..after 1 pm. on Saturdays, but thought the present offer a move in the right direction.
To meet these and other increases the department plans to make changes in bus frequencies and the union and employees have agreed to co-operate with the general manager in bringing these reductions into effect.
