Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A'part of a £10 in. redevelopment plan at Sheffield, British Railways on Friday officially opened the new Sheffield freight terminal which is to play an important role in the BR National Sundries Plan. Under this system the handling of traffic is being concentrated at a reduced number of main depots, each working a wide area for direct road collection and delivery.

Sheffield's new terminal will take the place of four former goods depots in the city and another five in nearby towns. Collection and delivery services will radiate throughout the Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham and Chesterfield areas. An important feature is a warehouse covering three acres, said to be the largest in Sheffield, from which detail distribution will be made to customers. requirements. The workshops here will carry out dayto-day maintenance on 200 road vehicles and general maintenance on 500 semi

trailers. In the 920 ft.-long inwards sundries shed provision is made for 90 trailer positions on a raised deck adjacent to the rail tracks. In the yard there is accommodation for • 200 wagons in position for loading and unloading.

A new high-level (or tip) dock has been provided, where scrap from the Sheffield steel manufacturers can be tipped directly from road vehicles into rail trucks.
