ry'FIE Eagle 15-24 cubic yd. capacity 1 Cornpressmore refuse vehicle, forming one of the exhibits on this stand, is representative of up-to-date development in this particular type of municipal equipment.

The body is of steel construction throughout, with main frame of channel-section rolled steel, the whole being electrically welded. The sides are reinforced with rolled steel channel sections which are continued upwards to form the bows of the roof.

The compression barrier, of which the tailboard forms a part, is hinged to the ram plate, the latter being hinged to the bottom of the body. The tipping ram, which is of the telescopic type, is mounted at the front end. It is shown mounted on a Thornycroft Sturdy low-loading chassis. Another interesting exhibit is the 6-ton moving floor, general purpose trailer, with its electrically welded, allsteel chassis. It is fitted with a dropsided body, with a rubber-belt floor equipped for hand operation.

A Thornycroft Trusty tractor chassis is shown as a 12-ton articulated sixwheeler, the driver's cab of which is totally enclosed. The trailer portion is of all-steel construction and mounted on wheel and tyre equipment interchangeable with those on the primemover. The approximate measurements of the body are 23 ft. long by 7 ft. 6 ins. wide.

Another exhibit consists of a Scammell 3-ton mechanical horse, in combination with a 3-ton, 3-cubic yd. capacity, all-steel, end-tip trailer. The mechanical horse has a double reduc

The trailer chassis is mounted on 34-in. by 6-in, single pneumatics and is fitted with the Scammell patent retractable undercarriage. Handoperated hydraulic end-tipping gear of the front ram type is used.

A wide selection of tipping gear is shown in addition, including one of the three-way type, complete with pump and tank units, and of 2-3-tons capacity. Hand-operated universal screw gear. telescopic screw gear, a quick action brake lever and a rear axle assembly for the Eagle high-speed trailer, complete an interesting exhibit. —The Eagle Engineering Co., Ltd., Eagle Works, Warwick.
