Stand 102 EARLIER in the year, R. A. Dyson and Co., Ltd., arrangzd an exhibition programme including some trailers of outstanding interest, one of which was a 75-tonner. Extraordinary demands upon the company's products, however, necessitated a change of arrangements, and the company has had to show a range of trailers, which, immediately after the Exhibition, will be delivered to various customers. The models on view have been manufactured in the ordinary way of business, without any special preparation.
Two road-rail trailers are of particular interest. One is for carrying edible k38 oils, which can be kept hot during transit. Auxiliary wheels take the load off the tyres and centralize it when the trailer is mounted on a railway truck. The tank is of mild steel, glass-lined and lagged with Alfol.
The other road-rail trailer is for carrying 2,000 gallons of milk .in a stainless-steel tank lagged with Alfol and covered with aluminium Sheeting. The six wheels carry 10.50 by 13 tyres, whilst the front axle is steered on the Ackerman principle.
A low-loading chassis on view combines many patented features and is specially designed for use where an extremely low loading level is required.
Then there is a lightweight 8-ton trailer of advanced desigr, incorporating a pressed-steel frame with cruciform bracing and a roller-bearing turntable. Progressive two-stage springs are fitted.
The exhibit is completed by a couple of semi-trailers, one being fixed and the other detachable. The fixed attachment is employed in conjunction with a Leyland Cub KZ5 tractor, whilst the other is coupled to an International motive unit. Each is for 8-10-ton loads.—R. A.
