Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

OF the examples of attachments and trailers staged on this stand, perhaps the most interesting are the Kwikfiks 6-ton attachment, and the Pullrbore with a capacity of eight tons. The Kwikfiks attachment which is shown mounted on a Guy Ant tractor, has a drop-sided body and the Pullmore, on a Commer L.N.5 tractor, has a front-loading board a:nd chock rail body.

The 6-8-ton four-wheeled trailer shown has a front head hoard and chock rail body with a ball-bearing turntable which greatly facilitates operation.

A type of trailer, of which large numbers have been supplied to Government departments, incorporates a torsion bar. The model shown also has a ball-bearing turntable.

Then there is a pole trailer equipped with a twin bogie. The railway companies find this particular piece of _ equipment highly suited to a specific sphere of use and numbers have been supplied to them.

Amongst other special features built into the design of a 30-cwt. two THE practicability of the Carrimore patented automatic retractor having been demonstrated over the past two years, it is not surprising that the main exhibit on this stand features this piece of equipment. It is shown in conjunction with a Bedford chassis and furniture van body with a capacity of 1,200 cubic ft. This van is of unusual design, being completely streamlined from the scuttle line to the rear of the semi-trailer, and this is made possible by the retractor gear.

Where a normal type of articulated vehicle needs a fairly large amount of space behind the cab to permit of the trailer moving about a fixed king pin, in the present type it is possible to arrange the cab to be within 6 ins. of the foward part of the trailer, as the retractor causes the front corners of the trailer to move in a straight line and not in the arc of a circle.

A definite advantage, of course, is that it makes available the maximum body space in relation to the wheelbase and overall length, in addition to providing for better weight distribution.

Popular opinion, as voiced in connection with goods vehicles, is placing this unozhine, which has a body of artistic E32 wheeled trailer exhibited, is a patented castor wheel, which provides for a high degree of manceuvrability when space is limited.

Municipal officers will find the firefighting trailer of particular interest as it meets the needs of many districts where more elaborate 'equipment is either not possible, or would not be justifiable. The output of the Drysdale design, high in the scale of goodlookers at this Exhibition. To this the Retractor greatly contributes.

Interest is also centred in the Commer-Carrimore 6-ton eight-wheeler, which has a trailer axle with four wheels in line. The complete weight of this vehicle is under 4 tons.

Another machine with several features of interest is a 5-6-ton fourwheeled trailer, This is equipped with pumping equipment is of from 350 gallons to 500 gallons per hour.

In view of the fact that the tractor portion may be usefully employed in other spheres when not required to haul the fire-fighting equipment, such a combination undoubtedly represents an economical investment.—J. Brockhouse and Co., Ltd., Hill Top, West Bromwich.

Bendix brakes on all four wheels and a new form of safety break-away device. . Two other machines are shown, one of which is a Dodge-Carrimore I0-ton six-wheeler with an unladen weight of under 4 tons, and a ICarrier-Cob, equipped with a semi-trailer, specifically designed for the transportation of cable drums.—Carrimore Six Wheelers, Ltd., High Road, North Finchley, London, N.12.
