Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DHL EXPRESS UK and Ireland chief executive Phil Couchman says the irm recorded double-digit volume in Q1 despite the sale of DHL Domestic last year to HDNL.

Couchman tells CM that performance in the three months to 31 March 2011 was “positively strong”. It comes after the irm sold its B2B and B2C domestic arms to HDNL in Q1 2010 (CM 7 January 2010), which represented 25% of DHL Express’s turnover. As revealed in CM last week, Yodel – the new name for the integrated companies – admits it is looking to cut its depots to 60 from 120 (CM 28 April).

Couchman says: “The issue with some of the retail clients and the domestic B2C markets is that they tend to have a declining yield year-onyear. So it made sense to focus on other areas of the business such as international movements, which is why we sold that division.” He says the two irms were different business models and it would be dificult to integrate them.
