Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

the position when the vehicles go for annual test with the tailboard removed in order to allow the load simulator machine to be used? How can the rear markers be checked?

AThe simple answer, if the tailboard

must really be removed for this purpose, is to carry the tailboard to the test station in the back of the vehicle so that the test station staff can see that the markers are fitted.

However, this does pose the problem that while travelling to and from the test station the vehicle will not be displaying rear markers and therefore an offence will be committed.

We suggest that, the tailboard is removed and replaced within the bounds of the test station premises: this would then allow the examiners to see that the vehicle is correctly equipped with rear reflective markers when the tailboard is in place.
