Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

BRS contract vehicles being used by National Star Brick and Tile Idings Co Ltd had to operate in lorable conditions, including going right to a quarry face and being used as pers. This was stated when the licence der, National Star, was called before the th Wales LA under Section 69 after 9s had been issued on two of the tract vehicles.

r N. Edwards, for the company, said t at the present time seven contract and ee Star vehicles were operating out of a al authorization of 20 vehicles. He said t for some time all vehicles had been intained by BRS and this was confirmed Mr L. C. Stride, district engineer of BRS, o added that there was a fitter on the site immediate repairs. The vehicles had n originally inspected every four weeks were now being inspected every two ,eks. Mr Stride said that in some cases vehicles were being towed to the quarry face because they were unable to get there under their own power. He had had to give the firm an ultimatum about these vehicles being employed at the face, he said, and now dumpers were being used.

The LA, Mr R. R. Jackson, referred to complaints about the vehicles when operated some time ago under a C licence and said he did not think the position had improved, and the firm's transport manager. Mr T. E. Hodgson, agreed that the vehicles were not the right type for the work they were required to do. The LA decided to remove the margin of 13 vehicles and four trailers and to also remove for three months two of the specified vehicles. He added that before the licence would be considered for renewal in February 1973 a full inspection would be made by the area mechanical engineer.
