• The South Eastern Deputy LA, Mr G. Mercer, reserved his decision in Eastbourne last week when Hall and Co (South Coast) Ltd was called under Section 69 to have the renewal of its licence considered.
Mr A. Simmonds, transport manager, admitted that the company had received three convictions for overloading during the past five years, and that between June 1969 and September last year 33 prohibitions had been issued to the company. He said vehicles were now serviced every three weeks and added that 3500 vehicles were operated by the group as a whole.
Mr J. Lloyd-Eley QC, for Halls, in his submission, said that the inquiry had brought home to the company the importance of ensuring there would be no repetition of the convictions or a recurrence of the prohibitions.
