• Ryder Truck Rental Ltd announced this week its agreement in principle to acquire Fisher Renwick Services Ltd, leading British commercial Vehicle contract company. The deal involves a cash payment to include the 600 Fisher Renwick contract hire vehicles, maintenance facilities and offices in London and Manchester. The turnover of Fisher Renwick Services was £1,020,000 in 1971.
Over the past 25 years, Fisher Renwick Services have built up a substantial business with some 600 trucks and 150 trailers on full contract hire. Distribution services have formed the company's speciality, customers including household name firms like Kraft Foods, Firestone Tyres, Proctor and Gamble and Brown and Poison.
Fisher Renwick Services operate from extensive premises at Park Royal, London, and Dukinfield, Manchester. Both depots were built within the past three years and are well equipped.
Tyburn — Caber Gas tie-up?
In another surprise statement this week, Powell Duffryn Ltd reported talks with Calor Gas Ltd concerning the likely sale of the issued share capital of the PD subsidiary, Tyburn Road Tank Services Ltd. for cash, to Calor Gas Ltd. If agreement is reached a formal contract will be signed shortly.
