THE CURRENT holder of the title of Lorry Driver of the Year, A. J. Stanaway, is competing in the 1967 contest on Sunday (May 7), being one of the entrants at Torquay. He is once again driving for the Heavy Transport Co. Ltd., St. Austell.
Mr. Stanaway told COMMERCIAL MOTOR this week that he was "glad to be with the same chaps" and still working at his familiar job after seven years.
The Torquay round takes place at the Clennon Valley car park, Paignton.
Also taking place on May 7 are the Liverpool round (at the Dunlop Co., Speke) and the Birmingham contest (at Fort Dunlop).
This still leaves 19 regional contests to be run this year. Operators are urged to make early application for entry to the regional secretaries, whose names and addresses were listed in 'CM' on March 17 (page 108). Alternatively, details can be obtained by ringing 01-837 3636, extension 46.
