ahe Hawk was hard pressed when it came to figure out the use of this curious hybrid. At first he thought it might be a custom-built limousine for one of those wacky celebrities hoping to ward off prying paparazzi lenses. On reflection, though, the writing on the side gives the game away. This vehicle was developed in the early seventies by Michelin and was
used for testing truck tyres at high speed. A system of hydraulic rams carried a fullsize truck wheel and tyre in the space behind the front seats. The centrally mounted wheel was pressed onto the road surface to simulate various axle loadings, making this the only known 11-wheeler in the history of motoring {unless you know better?]. The vehicle new resides in the Geneva Automobile Museum.
