• AWD is to receive a £5m cash in:lection from supermarket giant Sainsbury's which has agreed to buy part of its Boscombe Road, Dunstable site.
Sainsbury's plans to build a superstore on four hectares of land adjoining AWD's truck manufacturing plant. The deal was completed after Sainsburv's won a planning appeal against South Bedfordshire District Council.
AWD chief excecutive David Brown says the cash deal is "great news" for the company which has had to lay off staff for 10 days in eight weeks.
